Folk remedy is one of the best remedies! Thus the Kitchen Chemist series. What better way to discover beauty than to find it in your own backyard.  Apple Cider Vinegar has been a staple in my kitchen from Day 1.  I have known of it’s internal benefits as a young child but who knew that this eye poppin’ taste of a weird lookin’  liquid could beautify?

Kitchen Chemist Star: Apple Cider Vinegar | ACV (I recommend Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar)

Why it Matters: Rich in alpha-hydroxy acids making our skin surface smoother and helping to regulate pH, Apple Cider Vingegar is here to lend us a hand.

Creative Concoctions:

Poo Clarifying Rinse

  • 1/2 cup ACV
  • 4 cups water
  • Combine and shake in a bottle and use as final rinse during regular shampoo. Apple cider vinegar gets rid of residue build-up on hair, leaving it soft and shiny.

Skin Toner

  • 25% ACV
  • 75% water
  • Mix well in sealable bottle. Apply to cotton ball and use as a toner/astringent after washing face. Has been said to help with acne as well.

ACV Rosemary Hair Growth Tonic

  • Make a tea of 2 TB of dried rosemary in a tea ball or muslin (tea) bag and cover with 2 cups of boiling water.
  • Steep for 2 hours or overnight, allowing herbs to infuse in water.
  • Once cool, pour in a sealable jar
  • Add 2 cups of ACV and mix well
  • Apply to cotton ball and dab scalp with mixture at least 30 minutes before shampoo. Rosemary really aids in promoting hair growth
